Villain's Sick Beauty Sister Chapter 2: Part 1

Lu Yang finally admitted that, because the fight was chaotic, he didn’t know who pushed her. The parents of the three boys were called over, and Lu Zhihong directly asked the Lu family lawyer to negotiate with them.

Lu Nian realized that her current body was really weak. After saying that much, she struggled to retell the scene again.

Her eyelids began to droop uncontrollably, her head grew dizzy, and she struggled to finish her last sentence. As she spoke the final word, her eyelashes lowered and she fell asleep again.

Qin Si was considered cleared of suspicion, but from beginning to end, no one apologized to him.

Lu Zhihong habitually ignored him. There were still matters at the company that needed his attention. He asked Zhang Qiuping to stay in the hospital to look after Lu Nian and hired two additional caregivers before returning to the company.

For the next few days, Lu Nian remained groggy, waking and falling asleep again and again.

“Miss, the doctor said we can leave the hospital and go home tomorrow.” Zhang Qiuping skillfully picked up the bowl and scooped chicken soup for Lu Nian. Red dates and ginseng floated in it, and the rich aroma filled the room. Lu Nian took the bowl. After drinking a few sips, warmth spread through her stomach.

The snow outside had stopped, and the heater in the ward made the room feel like spring.

After finishing the soup, Lu Nian smiled sweetly at Zhang Qiuping. “Thank you, Auntie.”

“This child, why be so polite to Auntie?” Zhang Qiuping took the bowl back. The little girl’s smile was gentle, her pale face slightly better than before. She rarely saw this child smile like this, and the warmth reached her heart.

Zhang Qiuping was the longest-serving nanny in the Lu family and had taken care of Lu Nian since childhood. She was meticulous and thoughtful, managing everything carefully.

After staying in the hospital for a week, Lu Nian felt that her body had mostly recovered. Early the next morning, Zhang Qiuping arrived at the hospital, helped her change clothes, and wrapped her in a warm wool coat and scarf.

The Lu family car was already waiting at the hospital entrance. A nurse helped her into the car while another put away her temporary crutches. Zhang Qiuping sat beside her, fastened her seat belt, and spoke softly.

“There was a meeting this morning, and Mr. Lu couldn’t get away. He asked that the young lady go home first. He will come to see you after he finishes.”

She seemed worried that Lu Nian would mind, glancing at her several times.

Lu Nian did not care much about this “cheap father” and simply nodded.

Her mind was clearer now, and she tried to recall the background of the novel. Because Lu Nian’s role in the book was very small, and she had not read it carefully before, she only remembered fragments.

The Lu family described in the book had a complicated background. The previous generation of the Lu family patriarch had three sons. Lu Zhihong was not the most outstanding at first, but after marrying the eldest daughter of the Cheng family, his career developed rapidly and he became the most successful of his generation.

Lu Nian was his only daughter, but she had been sickly since childhood.

Lu Nian’s mother was older when she gave birth. The delivery was difficult, which left her body weak, and she passed away from illness not long after.

Lu Zhihong remarried when Lu Nian was six years old, marrying a woman much younger than him. They had not had any children since. Lu Nian remained his only daughter and the only young lady of the Lu family, with a secure status at home.

However, Lu Nian had been physically weak since birth. Her mother died early, her father was rarely home, and there was a distant stepmother in the house. Lu Nian vaguely remembered that this character died very early in the original novel.

Thinking of this background, Lu Nian raised her wrist and looked at it quietly. Seeing this movement, Zhang Qiuping’s expression showed a trace of discomfort, but she said nothing.

The wrist beneath the glove was pale, thin, and almost transparent. It looked fragile enough to snap with force. Her right wrist was covered in dense scars, both old and new. They were clearly the marks of repeated suicide attempts, even though she was still just a young girl.

Lu Nian silently pulled her glove back down.

The original owner of this body probably no longer wanted to remain in this world.

She thought that Lu Nian running alone to that remote, deserted school rooftop was probably for that same purpose.

The car drove smoothly. Watching the scenery sweep past outside the window, Lu Nian thought, I will live on for you, and live well.

As someone who had already died once, she cherished this chance to be reborn, whether it was real or inside the world of a book.

Soon, the car entered the villa district and drove into the Lu family estate. Beyond a wide white road stood rows of exquisite houses. Snow from the previous night still covered the ground, and a few cleaners were sweeping it from the roadside.

Lu Nian’s room was on the second floor of a side building. It was decorated warmly and delicately. Inside stood a princess bed with patterned gauze curtains, a thick wool carpet, a large rabbit plush on the floor, and many stuffed toys scattered across the bed.

Because her hands were still inconvenient to use, Lu Nian needed Zhang Qiuping’s help to take a hot bath, dry her long black hair, and change into a skirt she wore at home. After all of that, Lu Nian was sweating slightly.

Zhang Qiuping, already used to serving her, felt that the young lady was in a particularly good mood today. She was cooperative and refreshed.

For now, Lu Nian’s task was to recover. After taking her medicine and supplements, she looked at the bright sunlight outside the window and suddenly remembered something.

“Aunt Zhang,” Lu Nian asked, “did Qin Si come back with us?”

After the fall, her mind had been confused, and she had forgotten this important matter.

It was the weekend, and Qin Si should not have been at school.

Zhang Qiuping was surprised to hear his name. She remembered Lu Nian defending Qin Si in the hospital ward that day, and her hands slowed as she folded the clothes.

“He probably came back, I’m not sure—Nian-nian, do you need something from him?”

Lu Nian did not deny it and said slowly, “Something… something like that.”

“Then I’ll immediately have someone bring him over to see Miss.”

Lu Nian did not expect that response and quickly said, “Wait.”

Why did it feel like feudal times, summoning Qin Si without considering his wishes or whether he was injured?

Zhang Qiuping said, “He has nothing to do anyway.”

Qin Si’s status in the Lu family was extremely low. Everyone knew he had been brought to the Lu family only for Lu Nian’s sake, yet Lu Nian had never cared about him. Qin Si never tried to please others, and because he was never formally registered into the Lu family, his situation there was even more difficult. Few people paid attention to him.

Zhang Qiuping thought the same. In this household, Qin Si’s only possible role was to please the young lady when needed.

Lu Nian frowned slightly and shook her head. “No need.”

Zhang Qiuping was unsure what she had said wrong and did not bring it up again.

But Lu Nian still could not let it go. Soon she stood up.

“Aunt Zhang, I want to go for a walk.”

Zhang Qiuping immediately shook her head. “It’s too cold outside.”

Lu Nian smiled and tugged gently at her sleeve, speaking softly.

“Aunt Zhang, I felt suffocated in the hospital. I know you’re worried about me. I’ll just walk around the house and come back soon. It’s fine.”

Zhang Qiuping could not refuse her. Seeing her act so coquettishly, she finally agreed. Lu Nian told the caregivers not to follow, wrapped herself in a coat, scarf, and gloves, and walked out of the house.
