Villain's Sick Beauty Sister Chapter 4: Part 1
The little boy’s bones were incredibly tough. Some of the wounds had already existed for some time by the time Zhao Ming bandaged him. The new and old wounds overlapped, gruesome to look at. When Zhao Ming started dressing his hands, even he felt a little ache in his teeth, yet the boy remained silent.
When treating the wounds on his face, Zhao Ming applied band-aids and half-joked, "Fortunately your face is fine, it won’t leave scars. Otherwise, the little girl wouldn’t like you."
The little boy had a very handsome face. His eyebrows were defined, his eyes sharp. When he grew up, he would probably fascinate a crowd of girls.
But the child did not intend to joke at all.
There was no trace of childishness common among children his age. Zhao Ming’s playful words got no reply. He could only awkwardly fall silent again while applying ointment to his hands.
After everything was treated, Zhao Ming picked up the medicine box and was about to leave when he saw Qin Si stand up. "Thank you."
The boy was still only shoulder height. Zhao Ming noticed the black swirl of his hair and his serious gaze. "I will repay your favor in the future."
Zhao Ming was a little surprised. He had seen Qin Si covered in wounds in front of Lu Nian and thought he was simply a rebellious child. Now it seemed that, more than rebellious, he was astonishingly precocious.
Zhao Ming waved his hand. "No need to repay me. I am acting on someone else’s request. If you want to thank anyone, thank the person who asked me to come."
Hearing this, the boy’s eyelashes trembled. He pressed his lips tightly but said nothing in the end.
Outside, the wind howled.
Lu Nian had caught a cold during the day. After entering the house, she sneezed several times. She took medicine at night and soon fell asleep. Her health was very poor. She slept straight until the next day.
After washing, she examined herself in the mirror.
The little girl had not a trace of color. She looked one or two years younger than her age. Her arms and legs were thin. She had a pair of beautifully shaped big eyes, a delicate nose bridge, and small, upturned lips. Her features were somewhat similar to Lu Nian’s own childhood, only more refined and paler. She was a true beauty in embryo.
But an aura of illness lingered around her, visible at a glance, impossible to shake off.
The Lu family naturally lacked neither doctors nor tonics. Lu Nian’s diet was rich and abundant. Yet, these expensive tonics had no effect. The young lady remained pale, sickly, and drooping like a small flower struck by frost.
Indeed, for children this age to be healthy, they must run and exercise outdoors. Living indoors and taking tonics for years only has the opposite effect.
Today the sun came out, a rare winter sunshine. Lu Nian wanted to take a walk outside. She planned to quietly check on Qin Si, wondering if he had been uncooperative with Dr. Zhao that day.
Before she could get ready, Zhang Qiuping came upstairs with a smile. "Miss, Sir has come to see you."
Lu Nian’s heart skipped. She hurried back to her room and sat properly.
Soon, Lu Zhihong arrived. The man was impeccably dressed, no different from when he saw her in the ward. He looked her over and said, "Good recovery."
Lu Nian smiled faintly and noticed a woman standing beside him.
The woman looked twenty-six or twenty-seven. She was very beautiful, tall and luxurious, her makeup perfect. But her brows and eyes were drawn into sharp points, revealing cruelty.
She looked at Lu Nian from start to finish with indifference. After Lu Zhihong spoke, she glanced at her, half-smiling. "Good that you recovered. But this time, you have stayed home so long. How many times have you gone to school this year?"
Lu Nian: "...Who are you?"
Zhang Qiuping hurried, "Your stepmother has also returned from vacation."
Madam…
Lu Nian thought for a moment. This must be the legendary stepmother, He Tian.
He Tian had been married into the Lu family for years. At first, she was glamorous at home. Everyone thought she would soon give Lu Zhihong another child. But until now, Lu Zhihong still only had Lu Nian.
Rumors circulated outside. He Tian’s attitude toward Lu Nian grew increasingly strange and malicious.
She seemed to dislike children. In the original book, she not only disliked Lu Nian, but was also one of the initiators of Qin Si’s abuse.
Lu Nian felt a headache. Why was her family situation so complicated?
"If you recover, it is better to return to school early," Lu Zhihong said, glancing at He Tian and coughing. "Just in time for the end of the semester."
He had always had expectations of Lu Nian’s studies. But she was stubborn and often complained of pains. He could not be too strict nor too lenient.
"Niannian cannot continue like this," Lu Zhihong said. "I do not trust leaving such a large Lu family to her."
"It’s fine," He Tian said casually while playing with her nails. "The child you adopted is clever. Just let Lu Nian marry him as a live-in son-in-law in the future. Then the Lu family affairs will not trouble Lu Nian."
Lu Zhihong: "What are you saying?"
He Tian was adamant. "When you brought him back from the orphanage, wasn’t that the intention? Otherwise, why choose someone of similar age, handsome and clever? Not just to serve your daughter and control the household?"
Lu Zhihong stopped in his tracks. "I only have Lu Nian. Am I crazy? Marry my only daughter to an orphan? You go shopping and play with your friends when bored, do not meddle with Lu Nian."
Seeing that he was really angry, He Tian curled her lips and said nothing.
ha! she's a sus~
